The final framework of the Karachi Transformation Plan, the largest project for the country’s largest city, has been prepared.

The Nation.pk has obtained the details of the final framework of the Karachi Transformation Plan.

Sources said that the federal government has decided to provide Rs 739 billion for major projects in Karachi in the next three years. The government economic team has recommended spending the fines recovered by the Supreme Court from a private housing scheme on Karachi and also seeking funds from international financial institutions.

According to sources, under the project, the government has decided to rehabilitate the homeless people, the funds will be provided by the federal government and the land will be provided by the Sindh government.

In addition, the federal government has decided to hand over the responsibility of cleaning the Karachi canals and eliminating encroachments to the Sindh government.

Sources said that immediate action on Karachi projects would be taken by NDMA, Ministry of Water Resources, SIDCL, and Railway.

According to sources, under the project, provision of funds for Greater Karachi Water Supply Project will be ensured, immediate funds will be provided for early completion of Karachi Circular Railway and Green Line Bus project.

Sources said that the federal government has decided to provide funds for the double railway line track from KPT to Pipri. The final framework will be implemented tomorrow with the approval of the ECC and then the federal cabinet.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had in September last year ordered the preparation of a framework for the Karachi Transformation Project.
