A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the German company Energy Global Venture on plans to run electric buses in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said on the occasion that every citizen of Lahore could buy a car with the same amount of dollars spent on Orange Line and Metro.
Addressing the signing ceremony of MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the German company Energy Global Venture (EGV) on electric buses in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said. He said that in order to put Pakistan on its feet, science and technology have to be promoted for which universities and industries will work together.
Fawad Chaudhry said that German company EGV is coming to Pakistan to manufacture electric buses, after which a three-wheeled vehicle will be introduced to make it easier for women to travel. I will compete with India.
The Federal Minister said that an electric vehicle charger would also be provided on the completed motorway soon and the plan to run electric buses would be started from Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
He said up to 4 billion would be allocated to the electric vehicle industry over the next three years.
Speaking on the occasion, EGV Chief Executive James Oakley said that the government of Pakistan was working on the Green Pakistan project and Pakistan would be fully supported in introducing electric vehicles in this regard.
