The federal government fires 749 employees from Radio Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation.
Dismissed employees of Radio Pakistan staged a protest outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, which was attended by hundreds of people. Protesters held placards and banners, while women also took part in the protest.
Employees say that the annual budget of Radio Pakistan is Rs 7 billion but we were evicted on the pretext of budget. The government promised jobs and made 749 families destitute.
PML-N leaders Ahsan Iqbal and Shahid khan abbasi also arrived in the protested and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice.
Ahsan Iqbal said that he requested the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to take notice of the dismissal of the employees.
It may be recalled that in the last few days, government employees and lady health workers had also protested and staged a sit-in in support of their demands.
