LAHORE: Advocate General Punjab has opposed the appointment of Firdous Ashiq Awan as Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Punjab.

According to sources, Advocate General Punjab has given the opinion that giving government responsibility to Firdous Ashiq Awan would be a violation of the decision of the Supreme Court as the full court has found Firdous Ashiq guilty of using obscene language against the Supreme Court judge. ۔

It may be recalled that seven judges of the full court of the Supreme Court have declared Firdous Ashiq Awan guilty of violating Article 204.

Firdous Ashiq Awan has been mentioned on page 79 of the detailed judgment in the case of Justice Faiz Issa. The Supreme Court has ruled that Firdous Ashiq can be asked to respond to nasty words in the press conference.

It may be recalled that a notification was issued yesterday to remove Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan from the post, according to which Firdous Ashiq Awan has been made Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab.
