The month of October has not only historical and political significance for Pakistan but also many unforgettable events in the lives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif, Mir Zafar Ullah Jamali, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

October is so important in Imran Khan’s life that the memorable meeting of his party at Minar-e-Pakistan Maidan Lahore took place on October 30, 2011, which finally brought him to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Birth of PM Imran Khan

Imran Khan was also born on October 5, 1952. On October 1, 2012, the Taliban offered to provide security for Imran Khan’s October 6 rally after a meeting of commanders chaired by Hakim Ullah Mehsud, as the rally was against drone strikes.
As a result of this rally, Imran Khan got a lot of support from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the fruits of which continued to be reaped later. Resigned with Parliament, on October 11, 2019, Imran Khan told Turkish President Erdogan that Pakistan fully understands Turkey’s concern over terrorism.

In January 2015, it was announced that Imran Khan had married Reham Khan, a British journalist of Pakistani origin, at his residence, but Reham Khan later wrote in his book that his marriage actually took place in October 2014 but was announced in January 2015.
The two also decided to separate on October 22. Now Imran Khan is facing the real challenge of the opposition in October. Earlier this month, the 11-party opposition alliance PDM elected Maulana Fazlur Rehman as its leader.

On October 30 last year, Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s long march against the Imran government reached Lahore. It was Maulana’s biggest political procession. He addressed a large gathering at Minar Pakistan Maidan.

It ended March 13 and closed major roads as part of Plan B. The protest was called off as soon as Nawaz Sharif left for London on an air ambulance on October 19. Maulana Fazlur Rehman He led the MMA.
After these elections, with the support of Pervez Musharraf, the PML-Q got a majority and Mir Zafarullah Jamali became the Prime Minister but the MMA surprised everyone by winning 63 seats, the PPP won 81 seats and the PML-N was wiped out.

Three years earlier, in 1999, General Pervez Musharraf overthrew Nawaz Sharif’s government on October 12, and in October 2010, Musharraf announced the formation of his party, the All Pakistan Muslim League, in a London club.

On 16 October 1951, the first PM Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated and on October 17, Malik Ghulam Muhammad took over as Governor-General and Khawaja Nazimuddin as Prime Minister.

Martial Laws

After the resignation of Ghulam Muhammad, Sikandar Mirza assumed office on October 1, 1955. On October 7, 1958, he imposed martial law. On October 27, he was ousted by General Ayub Khan. On October 26, 1959, Ayub Khan envisioned basic democracy and the next day became a field marshal.

Nawaz Sharif Became a PM

Nawaz Sharif became the Prime Minister as a result of the October 24, 1990 elections, Benazir became the Prime Minister again as a result of the October 6, 1993 elections.
